Internal Hemorrhoids

Hemorrhoids are a condition is which the veins in the rectal are both inner and outer become swollen and inflamed.

If the swollen veins are outside the anus then the hemorrhoids or piles are refered to as external hemorrhoids or external piles.

When the affected veins are inside the anal cavity they are know as internal hemorrhoids or internal piles.

Internal hemorrhoids are caused by a number if issues which increase the pressure within the internal veins in the inner rectal area.

These issues include:

1. Straining when defecating due to constipation, or a feeling of uncompleted defecating. Sometimes this feeling of incomplete defecating can be brought on by the sheer size of the swollen internal hemorrhoids within the rectal canal.

2. Pregnancy.

3. Age. As we get older our inner systems naturally become less efficient. Aperson who might have lived with inactive hemorrhoids for many years might fing that they start acting up in late middle age.

4. Constipation. A natural result of constipation is to force in an effort to defecate. This forcing puts pressure on the inner rectal veins causing them to enlarge and become inflamed. This is the classic beginning to hemorrhoids.

5. Diarrhea. Diarrhea causes straining which is similar to forcing and naturally has the same effect on the body as constipation. Alcohol and caffeine are natural causes of diarrhea and their intake should be limited in hemorrhoid sufferers.

The most common sign that you have internal hemorrhoids is bleeding hemorrhoids or bleeding piles. Bright red fresh blood on toilet tissue or on the surface of the stool.

Also because the hemorrhoids are internal they tend to make a sufferer feel that they have not fully completed defecating which can leas to forcing exasperating the problem by further enlarging the hemorrhoids and sometimes forcing them out of the anal cavity to hang like a bunch of grapes outside the anus.

This can lead to strangulation of the blood supply which can lead to severe pain and bleeding piles.

If this symptom exists with severe pain consult a doctor.

Hemorrhoid Treatments:

There are three basic methods to treat hemorrhoids or piles.

1. Hemorrhoid creams and ointment which are applied to the outer anal area and suppositories which are inserted into the anal cavity.

2. Hemorrhoid removal surgery which include rubber band litigation, laser coagulation, and surgical removal with scalpel.

3. A Diet high in fiber or roughage with fresh meats and vegetables is an excellent way to stave off hemorrhoid eruptions. Limit caffeine intake and cut out alcohol totally if possible.

It is also possible to get a hemorrhoid cushion to ease the pain of sitting while having suffering from painful hemorrhoids.
